inspiration & information for local parents
Carlisle Kids is a grass-roots labor of love, made possible by local parents who want to help your family take advantage of the opportunities and experiences available all around us and feel part of this wonderful community we call home!
This site is for moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents, babysitters – anyone caring for or about children in our community. We cover the greater Carlisle area (including Boiling Springs, Mt Holly, and Newville) with the goal of sharing what caregivers want to know from a local parent’s perspective. You’ll find inspiration and information about activities, events, programs, attractions, and more. If you can’t find what you are looking for, let us know. It might just be our next post!
LIZ: Liz is a Carlisle-transplant who has lived in the area almost long enough to qualify as a local. She moved to Carlisle in 2002 and has worked, played, and raised a family in the area ever since. She spent several years working with kids and families before taking on a consulting role with a local university. She lives with her husband (a Carlisle native), two rambunctious boys (ages 6 and 9), a Mississippi map turtle, and two tree frogs. You can find Liz’s family hiking the Appalachian Trail, grabbing a slice from George’s Pizza, playing at the Y, or checking out a ridiculous numbers of books from Bosler Library.
LINDSAY: Lindsay and her husband grew up in Carlisle and returned around the time they became parents. Lindsay’s career as a consultant means she can live anywhere she wants … and so they picked Carlisle of course! Lindsay and her husband enjoy exploring Central Pennsylvania with their two young children, ages 4 and 9.
HEATHER: Heather Woodward lives in a world full of stinky socks and fart jokes – with her two boys, 8 and 10, her husband and her male basset hound. She grew up in Elizabethtown, PA, but “discovered” and fell in love with Carlisle more than 20 years ago. Along with volunteering for the boys’ school and her church, she somehow finds time to work for a Fortune 500 company in marketing and event planning.
WHITNEY: Whitney is a middle school teacher in the Carlisle Area School District and an assistant field hockey coach at Carlisle High School. She and her husband have two girls, 4 and 2, and they are enjoying raising them in the same town where they both grew up. When she isn’t teaching, coaching, or raising two kids, she enjoys running and spending time with her extended family.
KIM: Kim grew up in Carlisle and currently lives in the Philadelphia area with her husband and their 8-year-old son. She spends her time working as an insurance producer and homeschooling her son. Kim’s family lives in the Carlisle area so they spend a lot of time visiting and taking advantage of all the great things in the region.
